Rouse | Squad Update

As you may have noticed in recent weeks players have signed deals with clubs on Dual Registration terms. We caught up with Manager Craig Rouse to discuss his squad at the moment.

Rousey, we’ve seen a few boys depart on dual registrations this last couple of weeks. Callum Brook, Josh Nodder and Adam Porritt. Tell us first of all about their agreements and then what you hope to gain from this moving forward?

All three lads are in positions where they need game time in the short term in order to bring them closer to the group.

In Callum’s (Brook) case he’s been at Goole for around 2 weeks now and scored a goal for them last Saturday while contributing with a good performance. At 19 years old he’s still got plenty of developing and learning to do and the best way to do that is by playing games. He’s a part of our long term plans and being match fit is the best way for him to force his way into the side when his opportunity comes. He’s a good lad who wants to learn and takes information on board so this will only benefit him and us in the long run.

Josh (Nodder) hasn’t played a full 90 minutes since back in August, so he’s gone to Parkgate for a couple of weeks to get upto where he wants to be. We saw glimpses of the player we know we’ve got in the first 45 mins away at Campion on Wednesday despite his lack of game time. He’s a fit lad naturally so the game time will put him in a position to make the impact needed when he returns.

Adam is on the road back from a long term injury that kept him out for around twelve months. At times returning from such a long time out can be frustrating as he wants to be exactly where he was before his injury. Again he’s been playing bit parts for the last 3-4 weeks so now it’s about stepping up his game time and getting a sustained run of games to a point where he can deal with the demands of playing twice a week.

How can sending players on Dual Reg benefit both the player and your squad?

It benefits both parties in similar ways. For the players it keeps them match fit so that when the opportunity comes they are match fit and ready to be able to make an impact and keep the shirt. For us we get the benefits of having a fully match fit squad so the standards remain as high as we need them.

Scott Brown has returned to the matchday squad in recent games – how has his spell at Emley helped him?

Yes we’ve seen the benefits of a player going out on dual reg and returning in a better position in Browny. Unfortunately at the back end of Brownys spell he picked up a slight injury that ruled him out for two weeks. He’s worked hard over the last month or so and he’s seen the benefits himself of getting the game time he needed to put himself in a better position. He contribured well on Wednesday night and hopefully will continue to improve and force his way into the team consistently.

We wish all the lads out at other clubs well and look forward to welcoming them back in the near future.
