We caught up with the returning defender Jake Picton to discuss re-signing for The Colls and here’s what he had to say;
Welcome back to the club, tell us what made you want to return?
After speaking with Rousey, immediately it felt like the right time to come back. I had a fantastic time at the club previously and I know everyone has the ambition to be successful again.
You have worked with Rousey now over a couple of spells, how important was his role in your return?
I have been fortunate enough to work with some good people over the last four years and Rousey is one of them. He has a drive and passion to bring success back to Ponte – that was one of the main reasons why I couldn’t wait to come back as soon as the opportunity came up.
On your visit with Worksop last season yourself and teammates were met by our lively home fans, how pleased are you to have them onside for this season?
It was great to come back and play here last season. Those types of atmospheres are the ones I love and I am looking forward to experiencing it week in, week out yet again.
Finally, as we head towards the start of the season – what are your aspirations for the campaign ahead?
The team finished the second half of last season very strong. If we can take that form into next season I know we will be on to something good.
