Colls prepare for 22/23 season with latest announcements

It was a busy weekend off the field, as the club has been keen to act in preparation for next season. Saturday Morning saw the start of the action with Craig Rouse and his management team signing a initial 18 month agreement, this is with an option to extend.

This news was followed by the away draw away at Lincoln United, where The Colls picked up their sixth clean sheet in eight games. Ponte currently sit in 13th place, but before Christmas things were looking a bit precarious. However a string of good results saw Ponte hit eleventh in the league, Craig Rouse and his team had done a brilliant job in transforming the squad and we now look forward to ending the season on a high and push for next year!

Sunday saw the turn of a few key players from our current squad signing up for next season, the first of these was young defender Jack Shepherd. He has excelled since his move from Penistone Church earlier in the season, he made a couple of sub appearances before starting away at Shildon and has gone on to make 19 appearances in all competitions since.

Next was the Midfield Enforcer in Jack Vann, he joined the club in the summer following a spell at fellow NPL side Tadcaster Albion. He quickly settled into a midfield role that has since him amass 25 appearances in the league so far this season. He plays a crucial part in the way we play, both in a defensive and offensive capacity.

We moved on to the third of four player announcements, by announcing the signature of striker Joe Lumsden. Joe is currently in his second spell at Ponte and has moved quickly to become a fan favourite this time round, his high energy and quality has impressed fans and will look to add a few more goals between now and the end of the season.

And finally we were able to announce that Club Captain and hometown lad Jack Greenhough has also penned an agreement with the club which will keep him with us for the 22/23 season. The defender had been ever present until a recent injury has sidelined him, but has been seen in the dugouts getting behind the lads. Our marauding full back started his Colls career in our U19s under current U21s coach Mark Robertson, before then impressing in a preseason friendly when Rouse was Assistant Manager. He has gone on to be one of the first names on the team sheet every week and was made club captain in the summer of 2021 under now manager Craig Rouse.

We will bring you word from all in due course this week for their say on the announcements.
