Colls make third Summer signing in Spratt

The Colls are delighted to confirm the signing of defensive minded player Harry Spratt. He joins Ponte from Ashton United, where he made 43 appearances in league (Northern Premier Division) and cup. He has also played for Scarborough Athletic and York City in Non league, following Academy spells at both Manchester United and Huddersfield Town.

Harry will add yet more ability and experience to our side and will play a key role this season, he is versatile and can play in a range of positions.

We look forward to seeing Harry in the Colls colours very soon. We caught up with him to discuss his move, here is what he had to say;

Welcome to The Colls, tell us how the move came about and what attracted you about the switch?

The gaffer got in contact with me early on in May. I had interest from other teams but once he explained his and the clubs plans for the season, it sounded like something I wanted to be apart of and it all got sorted quite quickly.

For our fans that may not have seen you play, describe what kind of player you are?

I’d say I’m a committed and consistent player, who’s solid defensively. I’m also powerful and like to get forward when I can do too.

You’ve played the last couple of season in the Northern Premier Division, what will you be looking to bring to the squad?

Yes, I played a lot of games last year in the Northern Premier for Ashton United. Then the year before I played a few in conference north for York city and also had a loan to Scarborough in the northern Premier, before COVID hit and the season ended. I think I have quite a bit of experience for a young lad and I’ll give 100 percent every time I’m on the pitch to help the squad win games of football, as that is what we all want to do.

You managed to get your hands on silverware last season, is that a target here at Ponte this season?

Yes I think that’s definitely a target for the group this year. The lads had a good second half of the season and that’s something to build on and we will be looking to push towards the top end of the table.

Finally, do you have a message for the fans ahead of this season?

I’m looking forward to getting started and just get behind us for what will hopefully be a successful season.
