U10s Girls Weekly Update

Not the result any of us wanted, and our first defeat of the season, but I’m proud of the girls for the way they kept going over the weekend.

The first quarter saw the hosts dash into a two goal lead before Kiera pulled one back to make it 2-1 in a tight game at first. We pressured them, hit the bar, hit the post and deserved abit more from the game. The Coll’s battled away but went in trailing at half time.

With goals from Lucie, Hannah and Madyson completing our scoring and some fantastic saves from every single goalkeeper we lost out to a very physical, strong side who loved to battle and were all comfortable on the ball.

I thought all the Colls players put a shift in, in very humid conditions and energy sapping long grass didn’t help but all can be proud of there efforts. There will have been some very tired girls after the game! The players who have recently joined us all tried their best, seemed to enjoy the game and kept going even though it was tough going and most importantly never gave up which was great to see.

The hosts wanted to play no retreat which our players aren’t used to and they pressured us and made errors pay with some clinical finishing. No one likes to lose but we win together, lose together.

The players will learn and improve and we will move onwards and upwards.
