Rousey looking to overcome adversity

The Colls fell to an away defeat at Stocksbridge Park Steels on Easter Monday, conceding in the 90th minute to lose in a Yorkshire Derby for the first time this season.

Following the game we spoke to Craig Rouse for his thoughts;

A tough result yesterday, give us your thoughts on how the game went?

I thought we started the game the brightest of the two teams, without being anywhere near to our best. As the game wore on and the game started to open up it was clear that one bit of quality or a mistake would be the difference between the two teams and that proved to be the case. We congratulate Stocksbridge on the victory and we’ll focus on now trying to impact the games in front of us, starting with a huge week upcoming.

We had to contend with losing Vanny and Spratty to injury how difficult is it to have to adapt to losing two key players mid game?

It’s never easy having to contend with losing any players mid game, so to lose two players who have been almost ever present all season meant we had to shuffle the pack several times.
Adversity is part of the game and there will be plenty more between now and the end of the season, so it’s upto us to show we can deal with it. It’s a busy time of the season and there won’t be many (if any) players who are playing without some form of knock or niggle, we just have to patch up the best we can and get through the schedule.

Six games to go now, what has been the message to the group going into the run in?

The season is still well and truly in our hands. We are competing on two fronts as we head into what will be a pivotal week in our season. Another big league game on Saturday followed by a semi final midweek. The players have been magnificent all season at responding to doubts and setbacks, so I’m confident they’ll come out and right a few wrongs this coming week.
