Match Preview: Bridlington Town

With no midweek action this week we look ahead, to what will be the latest episode of this Northern Premier League North East Division. Both sides head into this one looking to return to winning ways after a bright start to the season.

The Colls drew their last game, at home to Grantham Town. This was a game that had a bit of everything, barring goals! Two first half red cards, the second was a second yellow for Jack Vann who will miss Saturday’s game.

Bridlington Town on the other hand were heavily defeated on the road to league leaders Stockton Town by four goals to nil.

Last season saw a home win for either side in our clashes, with The Colls winning 2-0 courtesy of now former players Vaughan Redford and Ben Gordon. The reverse fixture earlier in 2022 also ended 2-0 but a brace from Brid Town’s Danny Earl.

Both sides have entered the NPL via NCEL Premier Division promotion, with Bridlington into their second season following their promotion thanks PPG (points per game).

Bridlington is famous for being a sea-fishing port, it is known for shellfish, and is the largest lobster port in Europe. This seaside town has one semi-professional football team called Bridlington Town. This football club re-formed in 1994 after running into financial difficulties.
