Jack Lazenby – “There’s no better feeling than scoring a goal”

We caught up with Tuesday nights goalscoring midfielder Jack Lazenby, to get his thoughts on the game and touching on the FA Cup.

Afternoon Jack, you and the boys registered the first win of the campaign on Tuesday. Give us your thoughts on the performance?

Yeah it felt good to get the first points on the board. I thought we started much brighter than we did on Saturday (Ossett United). From around the fifth minute onwards, we controlled the game and had a lot of possession in their half which is where we want to be playing. I feel we could of been two or three up at half time. But then I thought we controlled the game well in the second half and fully deserved the three points.

Personally you had a great night, scoring and being awarded Man of the pitch, how pleased were you with your own performance?

Personally I thought I started quite slowly in the first ten minutes, but grew into the game. I think the first goal helped me settle into it a little bit and then I started to get onto the ball more. Obviously it’s nice to chip in with a couple of goals to help us get the win and pick up the Man of the match too.

You said preseason you’d like to chip in with a few goals, how important is it to grab a couple early doors to push on now?

Yeah I think it’s important to start the season well personally and collectively as a team. There’s no better feeling than scoring a goal, so to get off the mark early in the season gives you the hunger to go on and get more throughout the season.

With the FA Cup Saturday, how much do you enjoy these FA Cup rounds?

I’m unfortunately away on Saturday, so I won’t be there which is a shame as I love the FA cup occasions. Hopefully the boys get the win and hopefully I can be involved in the next round.
