Colls complete comeback win over 10-man Hallam

Pontefract Collieries staged a second half comeback to defeat ten-man Hallam 3–1, ending our four game winless run – in front of a vocal home crowd.

The first half was tight and tense, with few clear chances for either side. The game’s major talking point came on 26 minutes when Hallam’s Janni Lipka was shown a straight red card for a reckless high boot that left Bailey Thompson unable to continue. To make matters worse for Ponte, they were also forced into changes with injuries to both Simon Jakab and Danny Burns.

Despite starting the second half on the front foot, Colls were stunned when Hallam took the lead. Brodie Litchfield reacted sharply to tuck the ball home after a blocked effort fell kindly in the box.

The response was swift and decisive. Joe Lumsden pounced after the Hallam keeper spilled a long range strike, levelling the scores and lifting the home support. Minutes later, Frankie Sinfield was bundled over inside the area, and Jack Boyle calmly rolled the resulting penalty into the corner to put Pontefract ahead.

With the rain pouring down, Lumsden struck again in the dying moments. Showing great composure in the box, he stroked home his second of the game to secure the victory and spark wild celebrations among players and supporters alike.
