Pontefract Collieries continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with a comfortable 2–0 victory over Consett AFC at Ingfield Stadium.
The visitors began brightly, creating a couple of half chances in the early exchanges without truly troubling Lloyd Allinson in the Pontefract goal. From then on, however, the Colls grew into the game and began to assert themselves.
Frankie Sinfield was a constant menace on the wing, driving at his marker whenever possible and was heavily involved in the opener. Jack Boyle combined neatly with Harry Spratt before rolling the ball wide to Sinfield, who twisted past two defenders and cut the ball back into the box. Boyle’s effort was saved, as was Niah Payne’s follow up, but Bailey Thompson was on hand to pounce and fire home the rebound to give Colls the lead.
That goal lifted the Jimmy Williams’ side, who pushed forward with further attacking intent until the half time whistle.
Barely a minute into the second half, Ponte doubled their advantage. A Consett clearance from a corner fell to debutant Joe Kenny, who found Jack Greenhough. The skipper sent an outstanding cross field pass into the path of Sinfield, who brought it under control superbly before cutting inside and firing a low shot under the goalkeeper for a fine finish.
From there, Pontefract looked in complete control, moving the ball confidently across the pitch and limiting Consett to very little. Allinson was only called upon once more, holding a well struck free kick late on, while at the other end the home supporters kept themselves entertained by playfully distracting the visiting stopper.
The full time whistle confirmed three points, a clean sheet, and another positive performance as the Colls continue their strong early season form.

Niah Payne, who impressed both out wide and centrally with his work rate and quality on the ball, was named (Pomfret Gin) Player of the Match — continuing his bright start in Pontefract colours.

Next up for The Colls is a trip to Lincoln United on Saturday, before returning to Ingfield on Bank Holiday Monday for a Yorkshire derby clash with Bradford (Park Avenue).
