Pontefract Collieries are back on the road this weekend as they head north up the A1 to face Blyth Town in the Northern Premier League East Division.
The Colls make the trip in confident mood following last weekend’s emphatic 5–0 victory over Ashington AFC at the Hunters Stadium. The performance continued the side’s recent upturn in performances, while Jimmy Williams was happy to see his side showing a clinical edge – after struggling to put the previous two games to bed while on top.
Hosts Blyth Town, led by Gavin Fell and Michael Connor, also enter the fixture on the back of a positive result after edging a 1–0 win in their last outing away at Grimsby Borough. That result will have given them a welcome lift as they look to make home advantage count.
With both teams showing encouraging signs in recent weeks, Saturday’s clash is set up to be a competitive contest. Williams’ side will be looking to put together another run of results and build momentum in the busy winter period. While all eyes will also be on the weather, with Storm Claudia expected to sweep across the region. Both clubs will be hopeful the conditions ease enough for the match to go ahead as planned.
Kick-off at Gateway Park is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday, with match updates to come via our social media platforms – as we hope to travel home with the points in the bag.
